This Privacy Policy describes how Ringbind (“Ringbind”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and handles information when you use the Ringbind mobile application (the “Application” or “Service”). It also explains your privacy rights and how applicable laws protect you.
Ringbind is designed as a privacy-first, local-only document organization tool. We aim to collect as little data as possible while providing the Service.
By using the Application, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Interpretation and Definitions
Application
Refers to Ringbind, the mobile software application.
Company
Refers to Ringbind (the Application). A formal legal entity may be assigned at a later stage.
Device
Any device that can access the Application, such as a smartphone or tablet.
Personal Data / Personal Information
Any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
Service Providers
Third parties that assist in providing limited functionality of the Service, such as subscription management.
You / User
The individual using the Application.
2. Local-Only Data Storage
Ringbind is built as a local-only application.
- All documents and information entered into the Application are stored locally on your device.
- Documents are not uploaded, transmitted, or stored on Ringbind servers.
- Ringbind does not host, view, or access your documents.
- Deleting the Application will permanently remove all stored documents from your device.
At the time of writing, Ringbind does not provide cloud storage or remote access functionality. If such features are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
3. Information You Provide
Personal Information
Ringbind may request minimal personal information, such as:
- Your name (used locally for document labeling and organization)
This information is stored locally on your device.
Documents and Files
You may upload documents using:
- Your device’s file picker
- Your camera or photo library
These documents:
- Remain on your device
- Are processed locally (e.g. conversion to PDF, date detection)
- Are not transmitted to Ringbind or third-party servers
4. Permissions
Ringbind may request access to:
- Camera (for document scanning)
- Photo library or files (for document selection)
- Notifications (for document expiry or staleness reminders)
You can enable or disable these permissions at any time through your device settings.
5. Usage Data and Analytics
Ringbind does not use Google Analytics or similar behavioral tracking tools.
Ringbind uses RevenueCat analytics solely to manage and monitor:
- Subscription status
- Entitlement access
- Purchase events
This data relates only to subscription transactions and does not include document contents or personal files.
Ringbind does not track user behavior within the Application for advertising or profiling purposes.
6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Ringbind offers paid subscription plans, including:
- Personal Plan
- Professional Plan
- Family Add-On
Payments are processed through:
- Apple App Store (iOS)
- Google Play Store (Android)
Ringbind does not collect or store payment card details. Subscription management, billing, cancellations, and refunds are handled by the respective app store providers. Ringbind uses RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements and feature access.
7. Children and Dependent Information
Ringbind allows users to store administrative documents relating to dependents (such as children).
- All dependent information is stored locally on the user’s device
- No dependent data is transmitted to Ringbind servers
- Ringbind does not knowingly collect or store children’s data on Company systems
Responsibility for entering and managing dependent information rests entirely with the user.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
- Ringbind does not retain user documents or personal information on its own servers
- Users may delete documents at any time within the Application
- Uninstalling the Application permanently deletes all stored data
Ringbind cannot recover deleted data.
9. Disclosure of Information
Ringbind does not sell, rent, or share user documents or personal information.
Information may be disclosed only:
- Where required by law
- To comply with legal obligations
- To protect the rights or safety of Ringbind or its users
10. Security
Ringbind uses reasonable technical measures, including local encryption, to protect stored data. However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure.
Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their own devices.
11. No Legal or Financial Advice
Ringbind is provided as an organizational and administrative tool only. The Application does not provide legal, financial, or compliance advice.
Users are responsible for ensuring that documents are accurate, current, and suitable for any institutional or legal requirements.
12. Links to Third-Party Services
The Application may contain links to third-party websites or services. Ringbind has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of such services.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the Application or at the policy’s public URL. The “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly.
